Charitable Activities

Utsav Youth Activities

The goal of Utsav is to get our youth involved in various charitable and cultural activities and impart on them the lesson of giving. This committee was formed to do just that. The youth committee is responsible for philanthropic endeavors within the Sacramento region under the guidance of some very experienced Utsav leaders.

2009-2010

Utsav Youth Volunteer

  • Dr. Mitra Choudri initiated a youth volunteer group, led by Utsav kids. They organized clothes drive and served ameal at St. John’s Shelter, performed Spring Cleaning at Vedanta Center, andraised funds for Haiti Disaster.
  • Rupa Chowdhury led youth activities over many years in recent years, Sangita Biswas has been leading our youth activities, such as Walk4Literacy, serving food at Saint John’s Program for Real Change, etc.

2015

KVIE Public Television Fundraising Event

  • Utsav Youth Group volunteers (Aditya Chowdhury, Ayanta Chowdhury, Debansh Das, Sharon Sarkar, and Neha Joshi) participated the KVIE Public Television fundraising event during their pledge drive, attending the phone bank, accepting donations, etc. The group gave over 60 hours of their time in support of PBS and public television, and helped raise over $6,500.
  • Recently, Utsav’s youth volunteers, Sayak Datta, Ena Nayak, and Dayita Biswas, led fundraising efforts for the flood victims of Texas and Kolkata serving food at Saint John’s Program for Real Change, etc.

2021

Project Breathe

  • Utsav Youth Team raised over $1,400 by making and selling leis for High
    School Graduation and donated that money to the noble effort of “Project
    Breathe” to help the victims of COVID-19 in rural India.

LA Fire Victim’s Assistance Fundraiser #2

Utsav Youth group are planning LA Fire Victim’s Assistance Fundraiser #2 at HOLI led by Manjula Dey.
Our youth group’s amazingly talented kids have created these absolutely beautiful blank cards for all occasions!! They will sell them at Utsav HOLI on April 13. These are extra special because they are hand made with love by Utsav kids (Renee, Mishti, Meghma, Rishan, Mahika, Toushini and Dippanita).
Please support them, we will accept cash, Venmo, Zelle, Paypal or checks on the spot.
